PAVILLION SPRUCE-UP
Phase 2

Firstly, a huge thank you to all those that come along on Sunday and helped make the day the success it was. For those that couldn't make it, or had to get away before the end, we managed to complete the two main changing areas and the small inner hall, and get a first coat on both home and away shower and toilet areas. The windows in both were also started.

Now, we need a few more hours of work for the job to be done (ie second coat on showers, windows and doors) - so here's a chance for those of you weren't available this last week to come along a give up a couple of hours each to lend a hand. (And at least earn the bacon sarnie & coffee - you know who you are!!)

Ideally, what we'd like to do is split the day into 2 shifts - a 9:00 - 11:30 shift, and a 11:30 -14:00 shift, so that we spread the work more evenly. So, if you select which of these two you can make, and let me know, so I can try and get even numbers in each 'shift'. Ideally, if you could do either, that would also make life easier.

So come on, one last push, and at least the changing area will be done and looking a bit more presentable for hosting sporting fixtures.

IT'S FOR THE FANS

Forest Row 2 Hartfield 1

Montgomery Cup 2nd round

Alas our interest in cups has ended for this season despite a brave effort at Forest Row on Saturday. Yet again our band of young players surprised and delighted the management team with a fearless display against another experienced team. To think nearly half of this First X1 have been playing Div 7 footie recently is remarkable as everyone has
stepped up to the mark and made their presence count.
We made the mistake of allowing the oppo no chance to shoot so instead they hit loopy crosses which unfortunately gifted them 2 ropey goals. That rare beast, a Ray Levis error, put them 2 up after 70 minutes. To be fair many refs would have given a foul against their lankey winger as Ray caught a steepling high ball but it wasn't to be. Instead of
dropping our heads we got stuck into them even more after the restart and a firm header from yours truly reduced the deficit but time ran out on us.

A good game played in the right spirit - a rarity at this level. Another big game at home this weekend against good and fair opponents Old Vardenians.1.30 ko with the 2's to follow. If we get the teams spot on we could collect points for both teams so bear with us as we try and get team selections right.
This weeks lucky vegetable = purple brocoli

The Battle of Forest Row :
They came from near and far,
To see Raymondo tip it over the bar,
Alas he didn't.
